Detailed description is We serve the local community on the northernmost side of Fort Smith.
We welcome anyone to visit or make Northside your church home! Our pastor is Brother Steve Harrelson The church started out as Bethlehem Baptist Church and was organized in 1914.
It was during the summer months as people were sitting on the outside listening to the service and came across the street during the invitation to accept Christ as Savior..
The building on North 3rd street was built about the year 1917.
The church met there until Rev.
Ben F.
Worley led the church to purchase lots on North 6th Street.
and erected a temporary building..

McAlister led in the first service at the new location during prayer meeting on Wednesday night November 30, 1949.
The first song was "How firm a foundation." The new name Northside Baptist Church was given by the pastor Rev.
Ben Worley, and held its first Sunday service on December 4th, 1949..
On April 7th 1963, the church voted to move to another location and on October 2 1963, we voted to purchase property at 5023 Mussett Road and build an entirely new church.
Final services were held at the North 6th Street location on Wednesday night February 19th 1964.
The following Sunday, services, were held in the dwelling at 5023 Mussett Road on February of 1964..
Ground breaking for the new educational unit was held following the morning service March 1 1964, and construction began the next day.
The first service was held on June 14 1964 with Rev.
Orville Haley delivering a message on the subject, " The Triumph of the Church." with the scripture passage based on Matthew 16:18..
Formal dedication of the educational building was on August 9 1964.
Following the morning service, lunch was served at the church.
The afternoon service had group singing and reading of the church history, and the message was brought by Rev.
C.C.
Roberts, former missionary of Concord Baptist Association..
The following year, a pastors study, and nursery were added to the educational building..
On February 12 1967, the church voted to build the auditorium as quickly as possible.
Ground breaking was held on Easter Sunday March 26 1967.
Construction began on April of that year., and the first service was held on Sunday September 17 1967.
The first song was "Come, Thou Almighty.
Dedication was held on Sunday September 24 1967 with Dr.
J.T.
Elliff, Sec.
of Missions of the Arkansas Baptist Convention bringing the morning message.
Lunch was served at the church followed by the "setting of the stone" by Rev.
Orville Haley.
Dedication ceremony was given by the former pastor, Rev.
Herman Sanford.
