This was Harvard University's first newspaper. The New England Chronicle aims to be the most reliable and current New England Newspaper site. From May 12, 1775 – Apr. 4, 1776, The New England Chronicle was published by the brother team of Samuel Hall & Ebenezer Hall in Stoughton Hall at Harvard College. This was Harvard University's first newspaper and we're bringing it back to Harvard. Sadly, Ebenezer Hall became ill and passed away in February, 1776. Samuel Hall continued publishing his newspaper from Harvard College. The original Stoughton Hall where the newspaper was published served as a barracks during the Civil War and was torn down and replaced after with a new Stoughton Hall in the same location. . . The New England Chronicle was one of the first papers in New England to publish the Declaration of Independence on July 18th, 1776, and only the 22nd in the nation to publish it. . .
