Detailed description is Nelsonville-York High School Band, 7th & 8th Grade Band, and Elementary Bands This instrumental music program at Nelsonville-York is housed in our newly-renovated high school building. Students begin learning their instruments in the 5th grade, then progress to a higher level of skill with some marching experience once they reach junior high. By high school, members are expected to have reached a high level of mastery on their instrument to achieve at the following activities: concert band, marching band, and pep band. N-Y musicians may also expand their skills through involvement in Solo & Ensemble events, honor band auditions, tutoring younger students, and jazz band.
