The Navajo Elks Lodge No. 863 was organized and chartered November 10, 1928. Over the years Navajo Elks Lodge No. 863 has made great strides in helping to build a better community through donations of money or charitable efforts to organizations such as All Faiths Receiving Home, Ishin Rhu Karate Club, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, St. Lukes Missionary Baptist Church, True Vine Baptist Church, Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and many other organizations and individuals.. Many improvements have been made on the property including a six-foot chain link fence and security gate for protection from prostitution, drug activities and gang violence.. Special projects are feeding the homeless, food baskets to needy families and fruit baskets to the ill and shut-in at Thanksgiving and Christmas; an Annual Christmas Party for 200-300 under privileged and disabled children and youth with new toys and direct cash donations to victims of natural disasters.. The Lodge has been recognized by many community organizations including the Albuquerque Branch NAACP Footprint Award, The Sickle Cell Council of New Mexico Organization Award, proclamations and citations from the Mayor, City Council and Governor's offices..
