Detailed description is BBQ with Memphis & North Carolina Influence. Everything is made from scratch, cooked over aged wood and our made-in-house charcoal for a clean, bold taste! I, Chef Alfred Mann, grew up in central Florida enjoying my Grandmother Naomi’s soul food, and stories of her life experience. It was here in Florida where I was introduced to North Carolina style barbecue by local BBQ legend, “Mr. Gene” Daniels in Kissimmee, FL. My culinary career, however, took me around the country where I could refine my palate and experience a great many styles of food created by the most prolific culinary artists, famous or otherwise. My journey included living in Memphis, Tennessee for 5 years, where I experienced the Memphis in May BBQ Fest, and had the privilege of meeting all the icons of mid-South barbecue. This is where I truly caught barbecue fever!. . I have worn many culinary hats in my lifetime [such as Saucier—I thoroughly enjoyed crafting the robust and flavorful sauces here at Munchies], but it was my role as a single father of 2 which led me to where I am today. I founded Munchies Live BBQ with my daughter in 2012 to be able to spend more time with my son and daughter while still living my culinary dream. All we had was a tabletop grill, and a determination to make great food for everyone.. . The vision of Munchies Live BBQ is to bring the upscale, exceptional touch to the down-home barbeque feel at a reasonable price. All our recipes are the product of an extensive and successful career of creating bold, fresh flavors, putting quality and excellence on a plate, and bringing smiles to the faces of everyone who experiences our passion for delicious food.. .
