Detailed description is Mount Carmel High School, Ahmedabad, India, is one of the oldest convent schools in Gujarat, India. The school was founded in Ahmedabad on 18 January 1923, under the guidance of three sisters of Mount Carmel namely Mercedes, Marianne and Angelica.HistoryThe school was founded by Sisters of the Apostolic Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, an Indian order based in Mangalore. They started with four classes, totalling 20 students, in Mirzapur area of Ahmedabad. In 1924 the strength of the school rose to 110 students. The building at Mirzapur soon proved too small to accommodate all students. The school location has changed several times owing to its expansion to include more students. It shifted to Shahibag in 1935, then to Ellisbridge and eventually to Navrangpura area in 1938. On 25 April 1938 the land at Navrangpura was handed over to Sr. Carola. On 21 December, Her Excellence Lady Lumely inaugurated the school. In 1948 the school celebrated its Silver Jubilee. Subsequently it celebrated its golden jubilee in 1973 and diamond jubilee in the year 1983.
