Detailed description is The hurdles and dead ends I have experienced in my journey to provide just basic care for my children showed me that there is a need for intervention in the system. My passion and dedication to supporting other families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. My passion for fundraising and bringing awareness to the community my goal is to make sure every family has access to the resources available to them.. . I noticed a serious need for Parent Advocacy and wanted to network with other parents in similar situations. When it comes to finding resources and therapies for your children, roadblocks become a way of life. There is so much information available, it gets very overwhelming. I have many overwhelming years behind me and probably many more in the future. My thought is why combat it alone every parent should feel they are doing everything they can to help their child and family feel successful. That is my goal…no one is alone or left behind. . . My Journey began in 2005 with my middle child being diagnosed with ASD & 6 months later my youngest followed suit. Since the initial diagnosis', I have seen all aspects of the system. From IEP's to ITP's from utilizing Respite services to finding and training my own PCA's. I have explored disability funding sources from TEFFRA and Medical Assistance to Grant and Waiver programs. I have worked with Social Workers in Hennepin and Anoka County through the Developmental Disability Units and the CADI unit. I have learned a great deal from my experiences and I believe I have the will power to make sure my children are on the right path!! I am their biggest advocate!!! I want to share these experiences with other families, to ease their journey just a little bit.. . As Autism is becoming an eidemic, more and more kids are being diagnosed and the poor families don't know what to do next, and don’t know what the future holds. It is a starting point for Parents to begin navigating through the endless options they have to choose from. Parenting a special needs child doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. With the right network and support every parent can be successful. .
