Detailed description is Located in Metro Atlanta, I provide high quality repairs for flutes, piccolos, altos and basses.
I am Straubinger certified and was trained by Eric South.
I run a quiet little repair shop where my clients are treated like friends and their flutes are treated like like their "babies".
I apprenticed for 4 years under Eric South (who if you were ever lucky enough to have him work on your flute then you know how amazingly gifted and skilled he is!).
He made sure that I knew how to properly take care of every situation without damaging the instruments and how to shim the pads so that they have a practically perfect seal, which is the real art of his repair work.
That perfect seal not only allows the instrument to play, but to play VERY well and reliably.
If the flute is properly shimmed it should respond instantly with little or no cracking (especially on those pesky high notes) and should require the lightest of touches (no more squeezing down on the keys!).
Eric learned his trade by studying with several of the high-end flute makers as well as the top repair specialists in the country each time picking up new info and helpful tips; he passed all of that knowledge on to me.
And, even though he has since moved from the Atlanta area, we talk regularly and exchange info and tips on repairs.
We are both firm believers on doing the repair or maintenance correctly, not quickly like a lot of other technicians..
