In June 2011, Fred Murphy (88), Stephanie Grande-Misaki (90) and Janet Leilani Ward (97) met to discuss forming an alumni association that would give back to MHS. Amber Vaughan-Sarandi(90) came on board to help us with all of the necessary paperwork to forming a non-profit organization. She also continues to do our annual taxes. . . We drafted our by-laws and articles of incorporation. We formed our board of directors as well. The following individuals were our founding board members:. Fred Murphy (88), President. Michel Ardona (85), Vice President. Stephanie Grande-Misaki(90), Secretary. Janet Ward Riehle(97), Treasurer. Shaina Aruga Kubota(04) and Kehau Hatico(87) were inducted as board members in 2012. . . Since then we have had numerous consultants come out to assist MHSAA in making decisions. When Fred Murphy (88) was hired as principal of Mililani High School in 2012 fall semester, James Millwood (82) was appointed the president of MHSAA. We continued to wait for confirmation on our tax exempt status, which we finally received in 2014.. . We have raised funds in various ways. The first was to solicit donations from individuals and also organizations. From there we did a Panda Express fundraiser as well as our T-shirt sales. In 2012, we started the tradition of selling tickets to the homecoming game. We had informational booths at the game as well to spread the word. . . With continued support of alumni, we are able to give scholarships to seniors who demonstrate Trojan Pride annually. This will be the third year that we award scholarships. With the return of the carnival, we are looking to raise more funds to provide additional support to the school. Your input and support as consultants helps to keep the MHSAA running smoothly.
