Ans: Mike Kelly is a lifelong resident of Butler, PA. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 10, 1948, the Kelly’s moved to Butler in 1957. Mike graduated from Butler Catholic School and Butler High School. In the spring of 1966, he received a scholarship to play football for the University of Notre Dame. When he graduated in 1970, Mike returned home to work for his father at the family business, Kelly Chevrolet-Cadillac Inc., a business that was established in 1953. While working at the dealership, Mike received the Cadillac Crest Club of Outstanding Sales Performance Award and the Chevrolet Motor Division Customer Satisfaction Leader Award. Mike also served on the Chevrolet Dealers Advertising Association of Pittsburgh board and the Cadillac Consultants of Western Pennsylvania board. Mike purchased the dealership from his father and became the dealer owner of Kelly Chevrolet-Cadillac, Inc. in 1995. Since he has become the dealer owner, Mike has acquired the Hyundai and KIA franchises. He currently serves as chairman of the Hyundai Eastern Region Dealer Council, vice chairman of the Hyundai National Dealer Council, and secretary and treasurer of the Hyundai “Hope on Wheels” organization: a charitable organization that aids in the fight against pediatric cancer. Mike is also active in local charities and government in Butler County. Currently, he is a board member on the following committees: Housing Authority of Butler County, The Gathering of Butler County, Pullman Park, Butler Quarterback Club, Butler Midget Football, Butler Area Baseball Association, Redevelopment Authority of Butler County, Redevelopment Authority City of Butler, Community Development Corporation of Butler County, Moraine Council of Boys Scouts of America, and the Maridon Museum. Mike was the founder and past president of the Butler Quarterback Club and Butler High School’s Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation. In addition to being a board member, Mike was a volunteer coach for Butler Midget Football and the Butler Area Baseball Association. In the past, he served on the Butler Area School District board. He is currently the chairman of the Redevelopment Authority City of Butler, a councilman on Butler City Council, and vice president of the board for the Maridon Museum. Mike has also received the Catholic Charities Mary DeMucci Award, the Distinguished Graduate Butler Area High School Award, and was inducted to the Butler Sports Hall of Fame. Mike lives in Butler with his wife, Victoria. He is the father of four children: George III, Brendan, Charlotte, and Colin. He is the grandfather to eight wonderful grandchildren.
