Detailed description is A one stop support center for Migrant Workers in Pakistan and abroad The Department of Labor and Human Resource, Punjab has established a first ever Migrant Resource Center in Lahore at Industrial Relations Institute (IRI) in September 2015. The Labour & Human Resource Department Punjab acknowledged that access to timely and reliable information is crucial for potential migrant workers to make informed migration choices, protecting themselves throughout the migration cycle and optimizing their overall migration experience. Better information is needed for safe and legal migration, lowering migration costs and matching job seekers and employers.. . To ensure migrant workers enjoy safe labour migration and get maximum benefit from it, DoL – Punjab has established the PMWIC, the main objective of this center is to provide reliable and accurate information and support services to potential migrant workers, migrant workers, returnees and their families through drop in and over the phone. . . This center has been established with the Support of ILO/EU funded project called “South Asia Labour Migration Governance” which is a sub-regional project and promote effective governance of labour migration in Pakistan, Nepal and India.. . To achieve the target of the project and ensure the effectiveness of PMWIC, stakeholders’ active involvement and support is required. For this DoL-Punjab has organized a first stakeholders meeting to present PMWIC objectives, model and role to protect migrant workers and their families through a range of services and seek your support and input to improve it.
