Detailed description is MESA is an affinity group and organization dedicated to creating a community space on campus for Pitzer College students of Middle Eastern ethnicities.
The purpose of this student organization is to provide a gathering place for students of Middle Eastern origin or descent to come together for the purposes of organizing, learning, sharing, and healing together as a community.
We are a safe space that aims to be inclusive and welcoming to all students, especially those who self-identify with Arab, Persian, Kurdish, Turkish, Egyptian, and other middle-eastern ethnicities.
Although we are a secular non-affiliated organization, we also aim to also provide a community safe space for Muslim students on campus..

As an organization, we will serve a variety of functions, including (but not limited to): (1) bringing guest speakers to campus to talk about Middle Eastern issues, (2) host discussions and meetings for Middle Eastern students to discuss their experiences and stories, (3) coordinate various events that share culture and traditions, (4) work collaboratively with the other affinity groups on campus to bring awareness to challenges faced by students of marginalized identities/ethnicities.
