Greater-dandenong-city,

Victoria,Australia -

Detailed description is Colin Hay | Ron Strykert | Greg Ham | Jerry Speiser | John Rees | The Official Facebook Page | musicinfo@sonymusic.com | whocanit.be.WHERE ARE THEY NOW?.
.
GREG HAM | Had previously been playing with 'The Nudist Funk Orchestra' a few years and did residency for the Esplanade Hotel in St.
Kilda.
Greg taught music to primary school in North Carlton, Victoria where he also lived with his wife & two children.
MAW's old rehearsal studio located on Curtain Road was converted into their family home.
Greg was also the chairman for the young musicians festival 'The Push' which supported young talented musicians.
Sadly in more recent times (April 17th, 2012) we saw the passing of Greg Ham.
He never recovered from the court battle surrounding the so-called plagiarized flute riff which was part of their hit single 'Down Under'.
Greg also lost his father & sister around this time and fell into poor health.
Ron has since come forward & told us that he had early stages of cancer.
We would like to dedicate this site to his memory.
We miss you Greg -x- 1953 - 2012.
.
RON STRYKERT | Ron has always been interested in instrumental music, long before Men at Work.
He left the band to make his own style of music including; the use of bhajans & Sanskrit.
He released an album 'Paradise' back in 2003.
Ron still continues to perform live.
A guest appearance on track 'Don't Say' supplying lead guitar for the group 'Moonglow' back in 2006.
He featured in an interview for the documentary 'You Better Take Cover' in 2015 that surrounds the Kookaburra (song) controversy.
Ron is writing a book on his career with Men at Work & is currently seeking a publishing deal for it.
He has 3 children & remains friends with his former wife Janka Thomas.
.
.
JERRY SPEISER | Has been in a few bands since his departure from Men at Work namely 'Wheres Claire' (produced by MAW's original producer Peter Mcian) / 'The City' and latest project has been working with Australian band 'Frost' & playing live in 2010 with 'Sacred Cow'.
Jerry is also an organisational trainer and business coach for Ethyka in Melbourne.
In more recent times (2012) Jerry can be seen playing with his band ''Afterburner'' in and around Melbourne.
At the time of writing the band has since disbanded.
Jerry also featured in the bands documentary 'You Better Take Cover' surrounding the Kookaburra (song) controversy..
.
JOHN REES | He's still active in music and now teaches drums to local up & coming musicians in & around Victoria.
He also plays in a small jazz band.
John is married & they have two children.
John & Jerry remain good friends.
It's interesting to note that John released an album in 1975 for WEA Records before joining Men at Work titled 'Chetarca' this was with his band of the same name.
John was also interviewed for 'You Better Take Cover' the bands documentary film on the Kookaburra case.
.
.
COLIN HAY | In 1987 released his first solo album, named Looking for Jack, still on CBS Records, which had the single "Hold Me" as Top 40 song in USA.
Greg Ham was producing soundtracks and acting in gold Australian productions, guested at Colin Hay's concerts.
Colin Hay also stared some movies, like "Wills & Burke" and "Georgia" with Judy Davis, he also was a guest VJ for MTV..
.
Colin formed a band named The Colin Hay Band in 1988 for touring, it was formed with Gerry Hale, Paul Gadsby and Robert Dillon.
In 1990 they released the album Wayfaring Sons, now on MCA Records, which had a 1 hit in Brazil, with the song "Into My Life", and this success brought Colin to the world-known Rock in Rio festival at Rio de Janeiro..
.
Colin went independent and released in 1992 through Trafalgar Records his third solo album & was acoustic, named Peaks & Valleys, with the featuring of his sister Carol in some backing vocals.
In 1994 Colin created his own record label, Lazy Eye Records America Inc., and through it released his forth album, Topanga, with the featuring of musicians from all his career, like Paul Gadsby and Robert Dillon from Colin Hay Band, Chad Fischer from Lazlo Bane, Carol Hay and even Greg Ham from Men at Work..
.
After so many requests Colin teamed up with Greg Ham, for a tour in South America under the Men At Work banner.
The concerts in Brazil resulted in a live Brazil '96 CD, featured a new version of the band but with only two original members.
The original members absents showed, filled by session musicians.
Ron Strykert trully was a craftsman at his guitar, along with Jerry & John's fantastic rhythm section.
At this same year, Colin recorded a new version for "Overkill" with the band Lazlo Bane.
Colin already has acted in movies like "Cosi" and "Heaven's Burning".
Back in studio was Colin & Greg for the recording of "The Longest Night", a song composed by Greg Ham.
Followed a re-release of the Brazil album & this track was added as a bonus..
.
Colin went on further solo, in 1998 he released his fifth album, Transcendental Highway, Hay also composed and sung the song "Misty Bay" with his wife, the Latin-singer/composer/dancer Cecilia Noel.
He also acted in the movie "The CraĆc" with Jimeoin, a new acoustic version of "Down Under" is on the soundtrack of this movie, this was followed by the released of a new acoustic album in 2000, named Going Somewhere, bringing the main songs played at his acoustic concerts that were not on Peaks & Valleys.
Colin Hay & Greg Ham went out again as Men At Work for the closing act for the Ending Ceremonies of Sydney's Olympics, playing "Down Under".
Paul Hogan released the movie "Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles" and used "Down Under" as the main soundtrack, in a new version with the featuring of Cecilia Noel & The Wild Clams.
Colin was by that time at the end production phase of his seventh solo.
Visit his official website for more info.
Colin's film 'Waiting For My Real Life To Begin' is previewing right now.
More info: http://colinhay.com/ Men at Work received a Grammy for ''Best New Artist'' in 1983 which hadn't been seen at the time since The Beatles crossed the Atlantic! This came to pass after releasing their smash hit album ''Business As Usual'' along with topping the charts with their hits ''Who Can It Be Now?'' & ''Down Under''.
In April of '83 we saw the release of their second album 'Cargo' [EXPAND TO READ ON ...} recorded at Paradise Studios Sydney* & AAV in Melbourne (*Icehouse also recorded their 'Primitive Man' album here at the around same time) ; Cargo bought such strong new hits like "Overkill" & "It's a Mistake" amongst others.
The album was produced by their American producer Peter McIan who also produced their debut ''Business As Usual'' (certified triple platinum by the Australian Recording Industry) Recorded at Richmond Recorders in Melbourne+ (+ Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds also recorded their early albums here) From 1982 - 83 The men started two world tour passing through in a fried out combi opening for Fleetwood Mac.
.
.
Other highlights included: The US Music Festival that was transmitted worldwide.
One of their shows from this same tour was released for a video: ''Live in San Francisco, or Was It Berkeley?'' Released in 1984 by CBS Fox appeared on MTV and radio soon after it's release (this show is still a personal favourite and by far their best) Hopefully this will see a DTS release in the not so distant future! The sound was recorded from underneath the stage which featured a fully fledged recording studio with Mcian on the desk resulting in a superb soundboard mix of the show**.
(**One track from this recording 'The Longest Night' penned by Ham was released on the newly expanded ''Cargo'' if you want to hear the quality of the full concert recording..
.
Shortly after that tour of '83 Jerry Speiser & John Rees returned to Australia where the original MAW manager Russell Deppeller sacked both of them to put it in a nut shell.
Colin Hay took Deppeller's side in agreement; however the band had been touring non stop for 3 years and other members wished to pursue their own careers.
.
.
Colin, Greg and Ron were back in the studio at the start of 1985 up at Fast Forward Studios (The Melbourne Steiner school) in Warranwood for the recording of their third album 'Two Hearts', now no more produced by McIan, but by Colin & Greg along with Bob Clearmountain supervising the mix.
Session players were bought in namely; Mark Kennedy & Jeremy Alsop.
Released in April of '85, it had some singles released the catchy ''Everything I Need'', ''Maria'' & ''Hard Luck Story'' if you ever pick up the sleeve of the later it says it all! These singles were remixed for clubs however didn't get so much attention maybe if they had of released ''Still Life'' this might have been a different story! A fine piece of arty pop & a beautiful song penned by our late Greg Ham.
Two Hearts went gold near the end of '85.
.
.
After the release of the album the story goes that Ron just stopped turning up to the sessions of the album before even the first single was released.
There are a few left over tracks from the sessions which remain in the Sony vaults that Ron contributed to including one about Colin's dad.
Colin Hay went on to tour with other musicians (without Ham) under the MAW banner, after that tour Men at Work was over.
Pride and insecurities blocked the bands reunion to rock the world once again.
.
.
Greg went off to perform with his wife Linda Wostry in her band 'Miss Dorothy & His Fools In Love' they have two children Max & Camille.
.
.
Ron visited Greece to recover from a drug addiction that had developed near the end of touring with Men at Work.
Ron has said that on tour he just wanted to jam with the band & be a bit free.
Ron was never interested in fame, just a lover of music.
He later says that ''I use to get this black cloud come over me on stage & didn't really recognise myself at that point in time''.
He later went on & fully recovered setting up a studio in Montana and performed various low-key gigs in & around the capital.
.
.
Jerry Speiser went on to work with their original producer Peter Mcian.
.
.
John Rees became a music teacher in Melbourne which he still is to this day.

Ans: Greg Norman Ham passed away on April 18th 2012. Our condolences to his family & friends. In February 2010 Larrikin Music Publishing won a case against Hay and Strykert, their record label (Sony BMG Music Entertainment) and music publishing company (EMI Songs Australia) arising from the uncredited appropriation of "Kookaburra", originally written in 1934 by Marion Sinclair and for which Larrikin owned the publishing rights, as the flute line in the Men at Work song, "Down Under". Back in early 2009 the Australian music-themed TV quiz, Spicks and Specks, had posed a question which suggested that "Down Under" contained elements of "Kookaburra". Larrikin, headed by Norman Lurie (now retired), then filed suit after Larrikin was sold to another company and had demanded between 40% and 60% of the previous six years of earnings from the song. In February 2010 the judge ruled that "Down Under" did contain a flute riff based on "Kookaburra" but stipulated that neither was it necessarily the hook nor a substantial part of the hit song (Hay and Strykert had written the track years before the flute riff was added by Ham). In July 2010 a judge ruled that Larrikin should be paid 5% of past (since 2002) and future profits. After the suicide death of Ham in April 2012, stories reported Ham's disappointment at the ruling and "suggesting that this particular case and the ruling completely destroyed his life".

Qus: 7).What is the email of the business?

Ans: Email address is - enquiries.au@sonymusic.com
