The department of metallurgical engineering was established in 1963 to impart quality education at the BE level. It has been upgraded to PG level in 1996 with the introduction of ME (Industrial Materials & Metallurgy). With effect from 1997-98 the strength of bachelors course has been increased from 20 to 40 due to the increased industrial demand. Over these years it has emerged as a premier centre of education and research in this field. Department has well equipped laboratories and highly qualified faculty. In addition, guest faculty is being invited from other institutions and industry to share their experiences and teach specialized topics in different subjects.
