Detailed description is Providing students a place to study and seek help from professional or peer tutors in all academic disciplines including writing and math. . The Student Success Center (SSC) at Marshalltown Community College strives to provide an academic support system for students who need help reaching their goals. The SSC is located in room 406 and is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm while college classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters. Interim and summer semester hours may also vary.. . Supportive Environment. • Computer work areas. • Individual and group study and tutoring areas. • Informal, supportive atmosphere. • Fully-accessible accommodations. . A laser printer and computers with Internet access and most software programs required for MCC courses are available for students’ academic use.. . Supportive Services. Tutoring services are offered free of charge by MCC students who have successfully completed courses such as computer concepts, mathematics, sciences, business/clerical, and foreign languages. Subject availability varies by semester. For more information about the SSC’s Peer Tutoring Program, click here.. Writing assistance is available to provide suggestions and specific instructions to help students successfully complete writing assignments for many MCC courses. A student seeking assistance will need the instructor's requirements for the assignment and a detailed outline or working draft of the paper in order to work with a student writing assistant. . Math assistance is available from Arlo Hildahl, Mathematics Adjunct Faculty, during the fall and spring semesters.. . Services for students with disabilities are arranged on an individual basis.
