Detailed description is This destination long distance triathlon is based in Picton, taking advantage of all that the Marlborough Sounds has to offer! 6th February 2016 The Marlborough Sounds is the perfect location to host a long distance event.
The area offers athletes and spectators a stunning course to enjoy.
The 2 lap swim course is held in the calm Picton Harbour, you will have a very rear opportunity to swim in the restricted area out in the sounds.
A 1 lap bike course (93km) will take you out queen Charlotte drive through the Sounds, giving you the most picturesque triathlon course that New Zealand has to offer.
You head towards Havelock and Blenheim before returning back to Picton for the 2 lap run.
The mostly off road run will take athletes over the Marina walkway bridge and out along the snout trail.
Here athletes will find themselves running along the ocean side track through the picturesque sounds, before looping around and heading along the Picton waterfront.
The two lap course offers a great opportunity for spectators to see the event unfold and also for the athletes to experience the board walk and main street atmosphere.
We will be shutting off London Quay (the main esplanade street) to capture the festival feel, with all the street facing bars and cafes you will have the perfect opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere, views, and local cuisine whilst the day unfolds.

Registration, race briefing and a course and nutrition seminars on the Friday.
