Detailed description is The goal of the M.U. Department of Theatre is to provide a theatrical outlet and develop the skills, crafts, and imaginations of its students. Our Department Facebook page features updates on auditions, performances, and other theatrical opportunities for our students, alums, and fans as well serving as an archive of pictures and programs from past productions. Starting Fall 2014, the Marian University Department of Theatre will produce two mainstage productions each year. Any Marian University student regardless of major is eligible and encouraged to participate on stage or behind the scenes. All main-stage productions will take place in the Marian University Theatre, a multi-million dollar, 500 seat performance venue in Marian Hall. In addition to our two mainstage productions, we will also produce a children's show that tours to local schools. . . Marian University also offers a minor in theatre that emphasizes production experiences and courses in performance, technical theatre, and dramatic literature. The minor is ideal for students interested in complementing their major field of study with a program that boosts their confidence and enhances many skills that will benefit them for any career. Our students gain experience in leadership, communication, organization, teamwork, creativity, and problem solving through hands on experience in a variety of tasks, responsibilities, and job positions. Students are involved in almost every aspect of launching every theatrical production from early concept and designs to the finished product on opening night by participating as actors, technicians, run crew, and even as designers and directors.. . Theatre minors take core courses in acting, tech production, and design with the Department of Theatre. Additional courses, dramatic literature and theatre electives, can be chosen from a variety of courses offered by the art, English, communications, music, and modern languages departments. Students are encouraged to enhance their education and gain professional experience by auditioning or working with theatre companies off campus. Practicums and internships are available with numerous professional and community theatres in Indianapolis.. .
