The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lurøy, located on the island of Lurøya. Other villages include Aldra, Haugland, Konsvikosen, Lovund, Sleneset, Stokkvågen, and Tonnes.The municipality is located on the coast just south of the Arctic circle, on the western edge of the Saltfjellet mountain range.
