Detailed description is Est. 1986- Authentic Mexican cuisine prepared/served with lots of love by the Olivo Family. The staff consists of MAMA ZALETA OLIVO (head chef), her sons/daughters, and a couple extended family members.. (NEED A MENU? FIND ONE IN OUR PICTURE ALBUMS!). . Los Olivo's was first opened by Cecilio Olivo and his wife Zaleta Olivo in 1986 at our first location near 47th and western. About 5 years later we relocated to our current location (31st and Homan) and the rest is history. Staying true to Mama Olivo's need for "EVERYTHING MADE FRESH AND PREPARED AS IF YOU WERE FEEDING YOUR OWN CHILDREN", has helped the business to grow more than we could have EVER imagined. Our clientele expands daily because anyone who stops in can tell that the food isn't made by someone who is doing it simply as their job; we've been told that you can really taste the passion our family has for the food we serve in EVERY dish, whether it's a simple Al Pastor taco, a delicious Veggie Gordita with all our fresh veggies or a plate of Mama Olivo's World Famous beef/potato stew. The Olivo family originates from Zacatecas, Mexico and has succeeded in bringing that fresh homemade flavor to Chicago, Illinois!. . The restaurant was recently featured(October 9th, 2011) on a very well known Chicago TV show called "CHICAGO'S BEST", which showcases viewers recommendations for the best restaurants in Chicago. This was really the first ever advertisement we had other than local church bulletins and of course our loyal customers' word of mouth. The response to our segment on "CHICAGO'S BEST" was AMAZING. We've had so many new customers come in and quickly become return-customers that we have looked into possibly expanding the building into our parking lot to accommodate the huge crowds we are now getting. (it isn't rare to drive up and see a line outside the door these days, Thanks C.B TV!). . We close at 4pm everyday for Mama Olivo's quality control purposes. She says she needs to be sure that she is proud of every dish that is served, therefore she must be there(which only allows for one shift) ~6am - 4pm Monday-Friday~ .....&..... ~6:30am - 4pm SATURDAY-SUNDAY~. . DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF CUSTOMERS WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU CALL IN YOUR ORDER ATLEAST 20-30 MINUTES AHEAD OF TIME, ESPECIALLY ON THE WEEKENDS.. . ** As of right now we are only accepting CASH not credit.
