Detailed description is The aim of the Lincoln County Historical and Genealogical Society is preserving artifacts, historical sites, and the history of our town and county. We also promote education related to local history. The Lincoln County Historical and Genealogical Society held its first meeting in February 2008; and right from the start, its founders hoped to create a museum dedicated to area history. At the same time, a group of Jewish families was thinking about ways to preserve the structure and history of the B'nai Sholom Temple, built in 1896. The members of the temple, with the help of the Institute for Southern Jewish Life, decided to combine their interest in preservation with that of the historical society and March 2011, two collections, housed in one building, opened to the public.. . The museum is still growing and accepting materials and artifacts. Entrance to the museum is free, but donations are welcome. Membership to the historical society is just $20 a year and all contributions are tax-deductible. . .
