Detailed description is . Singapore's first and only public library dedicated to the performing arts.. . The library@esplanade was officially opened on 12 September 2002 by Minister Khaw Boon Wan. It is Singapore’s first and only public library dedicated to the performing arts. Due to its niche focus, the library is located within the Esplanade performing arts complex. The library aims to serve the needs of arts administrators, researchers, arts teachers and students, practitioners, and general users/casual browsers who have an interest in the performing arts. . . The library’s collection is divided into four Villages representing four main categories of performing arts: Music, Film, Theatre and Dance. The library’s collection comprises books, play scripts and movie screenplays, music scores, music albums, and film, dance and theatre video recordings.. . The library has special facilities including three Screening Rooms, a Piano Practice Room, and a Silent Studio where band musicians may hold jamming sessions. Members of the public may rent these facilities at an hourly rate. . . - Screening Rooms: $7.50 per hour; max. capacity – 4 pax . - Piano Practice Room: $7.50 per hour; max. capacity – 3 pax . - Silent Studio: $8.12 per hour; max. capacity – 7 pax . .
