We started raising registered cattle in 1988, we chose Angus believing they were the most trouble-free cattle that had the greatest potential for our environment.
Over the years, LAR has worked to build a foundation of functional females with generations of stacked pedigrees for calving ease, docility, carcass merit, and structural soundness.
To do this, we have utilized Artificial Insemination from the beginning.
Additionally, we started ultra-sounding and collecting carcass-data in 1996 and developed an embryo transfer program in 2000.

The ranch has increased in size over the past 26 years from 20 Angus Cows to now 600 Registered Angus Cows.
Prior to 2007 we had marketed just under 1,400 head of our own fat cattle through USPB, all averaging 11% Prime, 35% CAB, and 87% Choice.
In 2011, we were proud to have marketed a group of 231 steers that graded 48% Prime, 98% CAB or Higher, and 100% Choice approaching us to 3,000 head of our own fed cattle marketed through USPB..

With all of this in mind, our philosophy is to ultimately please our customers and the end-consumers with a high quality product.
We do this by running moderate framed cows that are good-footed, fertile, docile, and maintain great udder quality.
Our cows are expected to raise a calf and keep up her body condition, even in western Kansas.
Finally, the calf needs to perform and grow efficiently resulting with a target harvest of a Prime, Yield Grade 3 beef.
