Detailed description is Der Lake Constance ist ein kleiner See in der Region Tasman im Nelson Lakes National Park im Norden der Südinsel Neuseelands. Er liegt im nördlichen Teil der Südalpen. Im angloamerikanischen Sprachgebrauch besteht eine Verwechslungsgefahr mit dem Bodensee, der auf Englisch ebenfalls "Lake Constance" heißt.Der See wird vom West Branch des Sabine River durchflossen, der Teil des Flusssystems des Buller River ist. Er speist den viel kleineren Blue Lake. Das Wasser sickert unterirdisch durch den Schutt eines Erdrutsches, der den Lake Constance anstaute.Rolle bei den MāoriDer Rotopōhueroa liegt im Rohe des Iwi Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō. Der See wurde traditionell in Zeremonien genutzt, bei denen die Gebeine weiblicher Toter gereinigt und die Seele des Verstorbenen zu seiner Reise ins mythische Hawaiki entlassen wurde. Für den Iwi ist das Wasser des Sees daher tapu. Der Blue Lake wurde für den gleichen Zweck für männliche Verstorbene genutzt.
