Detailed description is La Chapelle-de-Brain est une commune française située dans le département d'Ille-et-Vilaine en Région Bretagne.ToponymieAttesté sous les formes Brinum en 1148, Brain en 1238, Breyn en 1427, Brain sur Vilaine en 1958.Ce toponyme devrait son nom à un surnom d'homme gaulois Brannos surnom inspiré du nom du corbeau.Histoire En 1875, la commune de La Chapelle-Saint-Melaine est créée par démembrement de la commune de Brain. En 1958, le nom de la commune de Brain a été modifié en Brain-sur-Vilaine. En 1976, Brain-sur-Vilaine et La Chapelle-Saint-Melaine fusionnent. Le nom de la nouvelle commune ainsi créée sera La Chapelle-de-Brain.Lieux et monuments Le moulin à vent du Tru, construit au, a été inscrit monument historique par arrêté du 24 mai 1974.
