Das Kloster St.
Anna wurde im Oktober 1860 in der niederbayerischen Stadt Riedenburg von fünf Klarissen-Chorfrauen und zwei Laienschwestern gegründet, die aus dem Kloster St.
Klara in Regensburg kamen.
Diese Filiale von St.
Klara wurde im Jahre 1898 ein selbständiges Kloster.Aufgrund der Neuregelung der katholischen Orden durch das Zweite Vatikanische Konzil (1965) wurde der Klarissinnenorden im Jahre 1970 dem Franziskanerinnenorden angegliedert.
Der offizielle Name der Ordensgemeinschaft lautet: Franziskanerinnen des Klarissenklosters St.
Anna, Riedenburg.SchuleIm Jahre 1860 ermächtigte das Kultusministerium die Gründung einer Schule für klösterliche Lehrerinnen.
Zusätzlich wurde eine Mädchenschule eingerichtet, an der drei Ordensschwestern den Unterricht übernahmen.
Mit der Schule wurde ein Internat eröffnet.Die Lehrerinnenbildungsanstalt wurde im Jahre 1911 aufgelöst.
Im Jahre 1913 wurde eine Mädchenmittelschule neu errichtet, die ab 1916 bis 1938 ein sechsklassiges Lyzeum war.
Zusätzlich gab es in der Einrichtung eine höhere Haustöchterschule (ab 1934–?) und eine Haushaltungschule (ab 1917–1974).Heute hat die sechsstufige Mädchenrealschule 454 Schülerinnen und 27 Lehrkräfte, von denen noch eine klösterliche Lehrerin unterrichtet.
1999 wurde das schuleigene Internat aufgelöst.

Januar 2005 wurde die Schule in die neugegründete Schulstiftung der Diözese Regensburg aufgenommen.
Schwester Beatrix Riegelsberger führte von 1979 bis 2006 die Schule.
Von 2006 bis 2014 war Anna Maria Müller Schulleiterin.
Seit dem 1.
August 2014 ist Christian Fackler Schulleiter.
