The Klamath River Local Organizing Committee (KLOC) was officially established at a public meeting on April 15, 2012 at. the Libby Nix Community Center in Weitchpec CA. Over 35 community members attended to prioritize the concerns surfaced through our listening campaign which started in early August 2011 as the first step in a proven successful model of community organizing named People Improving Communities through Organizing (PICO), one of the largest grass roots organizations in the nation. We (the KLOC) represent over 75 local families (Indian and non-Indian) devoted to building healthy, sustainable, and culturally rich communities throughout the Yurok reservation.. .
