I love the outdoors, and Hawai’i is a perfect place for someone like me.
The land & sea animals, the hiking, snorkeling, camping, diving, biking, paddle-boarding, the beach, surfing; it’s all here! My first visit to the islands was dreamlike- I felt like I‘d been here before and the Big Island seemed to accept me with a warm embrace- like seeing a long lost family member.
It was the spirit of the islands; the spirit of “Aloha” welcoming me.
I found a passion for the islands, their culture, history, language & diversity of climates; and they kept calling me back, year after year..
I had to be a part of what made the Big Island so special.
I kept telling people I would eventually “make it my home”, but I just couldn’t figure out “how to do it”.
Growing up in the snowcapped mountains of Colorado, living through cold, dark winter months just seemed normal.
But when a close friend asked me one very simple question (“If not now, when?”), I knew what I had to do.
I sold my house, quit my job, packed up the kids and dogs and with no roof over our heads, no jobs, no car; I found my new home- the Big Island! No more shoveling snow, slipping on ice or commuting for hours in the darkness of early morning/early evening in the frigid Rockies.

I’m blessed to have found this paradise called Hawai’i and am truly grateful to be here.
I overcame the challenges of coming to paradise from the mainland, and am happy to pass on that experience to ease your transition.
