Jaana Franzell aloitti kultaseppä-käsikaiverrusopintonsa kisällinä Tukholman Kaplans Safir AB:ssä 1989. Opettajina toimi Tukholman kultaseppien ja kaivertajien parhaimmisto, mm. Lasse Kernen. Jaana työskenteli Kaplans Safirissä vuoteen 1994 saakka, jolloin yhtiö myytiin Ba Konstgjuteri AB:lle, jonka palveluksessa hän jatkoi vuoteen 1996.. . Vuonna 1993 Jaana perusti oman kaiverrusyrityksen, JP Gravyr. Ensimmäisten vuosien aikana hän teki kaiverrustöitä omalla ajallaan päätoimen ohella. Vuonna 1996 Jaana siirtyi täyspäiväiseksi yrittäjäksi ja avasi oman liiketilan Tukholman Östermalmiin. Samalla nimi muuttui Franzell Gravyr:ksi. Kaiverrusten ohella Jaana toimi myös käsikaiverrusopettajana.. . Jaana muutti takaisin Suomeen vuonna 2001. Suomen vuosien aikana hän on toiminut käsikaivertajana useammassa kultaliikkeessä. Kuten moni käsikaivertaja, Jaana on ensisijaisesti taiteilija. Jaanan päämääränä on välittää oma rakkaus työtään kohtaan asiakkaille kauniiden töiden myötä.
