In 1994, Jose M.
Maldonado Sr.
and his family moved to Lima, Ohio.
Soon after, Jose became active in neighborhood clean-ups and local community efforts to help citizens discard their waste.
Finding the work rewarding and beneficial to the Planet, Jose wanted to make an even greater impact by opening a recycling center in a blighted area of town.
Acquiring an underdeveloped piece of land, Jose along with his family and an array of near-by residents, began working hard to prepare the future business site.
Founded in 2008, Jose & Sons Recycling, LLC constructed the facility and continues today to acquire necessary equipment and supplies in preparation of its Grand Opening in September 2011.
As our 6 year Anniversary approaches, we celebrate the following accomplishments in hope to expand as community ties grow; We have recovered over 50 tons of various ferrous and non-ferrous metals, helped raise $5000 to give to other local charities including West Ohio Food Bank, Lima Men's Rescue Mission, Lima Memorial Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs of Allen County, Lima YMCA and the Lima First Church of The Nazarene; We are proud to be a training work site for TANIF summer employment program, which educates young adults in learning a new job trade; We also have a collaboration with Teens for Christ by being a local food distribution site for annual food giveaways; we also support local youth by participating in local back to school events by donating school supplies; Christmas toy give-away; Involved in LACNIP Riverside Cleanup assisting in metal pick-up;and sponsors of global efforts by helping supply reusable items to Africa and Mexico.
