Detailed description is [email protected] On the north side of the decimated high school there’s a scene that’s quite poetic.
One wall is destroyed.
You can see tattered books on the shelves, damaged desks and shredded posters hanging from the walls.
Then there’s another wall - one that’s still standing.
On that wall, chiseled into the brick, the Joplin mascot, an eagle, remains untouched.
Winds that reached over 200 mph could not crush the eagle.
Thankfully, the only resident at the school that Sunday evening was the Eagle who lived in the bricks.
And he survived..

As we remember the building that helped build so many people, you can buy one of the salvaged bricks from the destroyed high school.
And they’re special bricks.
You see, after mother nature vandalized the high school, with a few pieces of duck tape, the name temporarily changed to “Hope High School".
This name will eventually go away because our community will soon move from hoping to having - from wishful thinking to gracious thankfulness.
When that happens, it’s important we remember how we felt upon hearing what happened on May 22nd.
To commemorate the spirit of hope that is bringing our community back, you can buy one of the original JHS bricks or a ceramic mug that's emblazoned with the image of “Hope High School.".
