Detailed description is Johnson Lake State Recreation Area provides access to the 2,060-acres lake from 3 locations and has outstanding camping facilities. At the Main Area on the southeast end of the lake, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission operates a campground with 82 electrical gravel pads, countless non-electric, with showers, modern bathrooms, a dump station, fish cleaning area, and swimming beach.. Across the lake, the South side of the Inlet area offers another 30 electrical gravel pads, modern showers and restrooms. The fishing pier is handicap accessible on the south and north side. On the North side, primitive camping is available with outhouse facilities.. Gallaghar Canyon, 8miles south of Cozad offers access to the 400-acre lake and primitive camping with outhouse facilities.. Elwood Reservoir wildlife management area, South of Johnson Lake, allows access for fishermen on the 1,330-acre lake.. . Services & Amenities:.
