Ouray is called the “Little Switzerland of America” because of the majestic San Juan Mountain range that surrounds it, a branch of the Rocky Mountains.
There are only 800 year round residents, but it is a hustling, bustling Summer tourist town.
This was originally Ute Indian Country.
The town is named after the Ute Chief Ouray.(pronounced "yur ray") In the middle to late 1800's it became a mining town.

Ouray is 95 miles South of Grand Junction, 75 miles North of Durango and we’re about 55 miles from Telluride.
