Detailed description is Institución perteneciente al Sistema Nacional de Educación Superior Tecnológica, sitio Oficial http://www.itorizaba.edu.mx, . En el año de 1957 nació el Instituto Tecnológico de Orizaba, ante las necesidades prop. ias del desarrollo industrial, que en ese entonces iniciaba su despegue en la zona centro del Estado de Veracruz, teniendo como antecedente educativo la escuela textil de Río Blanco, fundada un 22 de enero de 1933, donde un grupo de maestros visionarios se trasladaron a lo que hoy en día es el I.T. Orizaba.. . El Centro Tecnológico Orizabeño -como se denominó en un principio- inició sus actividades el 13 de marzo de 1957 en sus actuales instalaciones ubicadas en lo que entonces eran los ranchos "Tepatlaxco" y "Espinalillo" con una extensión de 14 a 23 hectáreas respectivamente, siendo propiedad de la Srita. Inés Terrazas; éstas por decreto presidencial fueron expropiadas en 1940 por considerarse tierras ociosas y el Gobierno del Estado tenía proyectado la formación de una colonia ejidal y una urbana (hoy colonia Emiliano Zapata).
