Detailed description is A 501(c)3 nonprofit founded to promote the arts and artists of the Illinois River Valley. We are an Arts Council serving a rural community in southern Oregon by promoting art experiences and art education through programs in schools and in public venues. We support our local chorale concerts and special art and music events to enrich our community. . . We are all volunteers giving our time to IRVAC programs and we rely on the generous donations of community members to help fund programs such as Learning Through Arts and Art in the Valley. . . We also support music by sponsoring concerts, resident artist projects, and supporting the RCC/IV/Three Rivers Chorale performances in Cave Junction. . . We receive grant funding for art education and enrichment programs at Illinois Valley High School. We receive grants from Oregon foundations for Learning Through Art in Evergreen Elementary and Lorna Byrne Middle School. . . IRVAC also provides after school and summer school arts programs through the 21st Century Grant, a federal grantor. . . We strive to enrich and expand the learning opportunities for the children, youth, and adults of our rural community, for the betterment of all. we support and promite local artisans. Many of our programs and contests are open to the public to participate. Such projects have included the Gateway Project, Garden Art Project, Poetry Slam, book readings, public art classes, and other creative efforts to include the whole community in what we do. . . We also have an office, called The Clubhouse, located at 315 Caves Highway in Cave Junction. This is a space for meetings, small events, art classes, storing our art supplies and signs for ArtWalk, and where we plan our two major fundraising galas, Harvest Moon Hoedown and a February gala, both held at the Selma Community Center in Selma. . . Our members include creative and artistic folks, community volunteers, event organizers, teachers, musicians, and many people who support our work. One does not need to be an artist to be a member, just someone who cares about the quality of life, culture, and art education in the Illinois Valley.
