Detailed description is A collaborative electronics repair center at the Univ.
of IL at Urbana-Champaign.
Repairing & demystifying technology for a more just & sustainable world.
Funded by the UI Student Sustainability Commitee (SSC), this project involves launching a collaborative repair center for University of Illinois student and staff owned electronic devices, in order to: extend the useful life of products; provide experiential learning for students through associated classes, volunteering, and participation in the iFixit Technical Writing Project; and empower people to see do-it-yourself repair as a viable option for addressing minor damage and performance issues.
The Illini Gadget Garage is a collaboration of the Sustainable Electronics Initiative at the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center, the UI School of Art and Design, and the UI Graduate School of Library and Information Science.
