Detailed description is HRC Prevention is a division of Human Resources Center of Edgar and Clark Counties, located in Paris, Illinois.
HRC Prevention is a SAPS grant funded organization offering a variety of services to Edgar and Clark counties.
HRC Prevention will soon be planning for two communication campaigns addressing the contributing factors related to past 30-day alcohol use and nonmedical use of prescription drugs.
During the school year, you can find us in Edgar and Clark County schools where we provide a Youth Prevention Education Program.
We work with a local coalition to raise awareness about drug take-back for unwanted or unused medications..
HRC Prevention is currently teaching the Too Good for Drugs Program in the following area schools; Martinsville, Marshall, Kansas, Crestwood, Casey, Wenz, Mayo, and Shiloh.
The Too Good for Drugs program is offered to 5th and 6th graders and focuses on establishing goal-setting, decision-making, and effective communication skills in youth.
The program also focuses on building skills to refuse peer pressure, pro-social bonding, conflict resolution, and media literacy.
The program is evidence-based and draws from several theoretical foundations; including the Social Learning Theory, the Problem Behavior Theory, the Health Behavior Theory, the Social Developmental Model, and the 40 Developmental Assets.

HRC Prevention works in conjunction with the local CARE Coalition.
The coalition started the endeavor in September of 2015 after a death of a young man due to a heroin overdose.
Our first meeting was a brainstorm meeting to decide who needed to be involved, what our focus would be, and how we needed to proceed.
It was unanimous that we wanted to get started on helping our community with the addiction problem.
