The PERFECT family, group, or couples outing starts right here at the ORIGINAL Howell's Riding Stable at the North End of Burt Lake. Our 80+ year old owner, Thelma, started giving guided trail rides over 57 years ago with a string of borrowed horses. . The tradition continues today! Although Thelma doesn't guide every ride anymore, she still runs the farm! . . We have guided trail rides for ALL riders, 6 to 96, beginner to experienced. We offer scenic walk/trot rides. Hand-led pony rides are available for children who aren't quite ready for the trail. . . Rules for your comfort and riding safety:. We have a 250 LBS weight limit. . We require close toed shoes and pants. . Anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed near the horses.. No items that hang from your body such as purses or cameras, as they could become tangled in the equipment.. Please be COMPLETELY HONEST about the riding experiences of everyone in your group so that we can choose the horses that suit your ability when you make your reservation. . . Reservations are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED but we can usually accommodate walk-ins too.. .
