Breeding and showing Registered Belgian Draft Horses .
Growers of Corn, Wheat, Soybeans and Hay Honey Locust Farm has been in the Estes' family since 1832.
Farming has always been the main focus for the farm, whether it be dairy or crops.
Currently the farm focuses on crop farming - corn, soybeans, wheat, hay and oats.
In the early years, Bob took an interest in Texas Long Horn cattle and still breeds them today.
Ken was more fond of Belgian draft horses..
Ken and Bob both graduated from Cornell University.
With degrees in hand they returned to run the family farm.

Dean (Bob's son) is the 6th generation of Estes' to work the ground here with the help of his family.

The horses are a large part of the family involvement.
A six horse hitch of Belgians is shown at local county fairs and at the NYS fair.
We have been known to have 6 youth participants in the ring at one time from HLF but currently we are down to only 2!! We generally try to raise our own replacements by having 6 to 10 foals each year.

There are currently Registered Percherons on the farm as well brought in by Dean's wife, Lisa.
Her family raised Percherons for many years before Lisa relocated to Western NY in 1999..
We raise crossbreds out of our TB mares.
We are slowly phasing out of this area but still have a few youngsters left.
These horses have gone on to careers as event, hunter/jumpers, fox hunters, trail riding horses.
They have great brains and stamina that make them superior all around horses.
