Detailed description is Over the last 10 years, owner, Brennan Baehler has sharpened over 100,000 pairs of scissors and shears. He sharpens and tests every shear personally. We started with a knife sharpening service for the restaurants in the Iowa City and Eastern Iowa area. We were getting so many requests to sharpen scissors it seemed to be a good idea to look into. A Wolff Twice-as-Sharp scissor sharpener was purchased, additional training was performed, and before long we were sharpening scissors for So-Fro Fabric stores (now Jo Ann Fabrics) in 18 Midwest cities. We set up three to four times a year in each city and sharpened hundreds of scissors at each stop. We then began receiving requests to sharpen styling salon shears, so an additional shear sharpening machine, called a flat hone was purchased, and we recieved more training. Luckily, the training received was done by two of the top shear sharpeners in California, Jason Pintel and Matthew Biagi.. . We competed in a shear sharpening certification competition in September of 1996 at the National Scissor Sharpeners Guild (NSSG) in Las Vegas. We were given shears that had been distorted with large nicks, bent and crossing tips, lose finger rest, and blades with no set. Then were told to restore them to new condition. We passed with very high marks and became a certified NSSG Master Sharpener, and a NSSG Guild Member.. .
