Detailed description is Hohe Düne ist ein Ortsteil von Rostock. Geprägt wird der Ortsteil durch den Marinestützpunkt der Deutschen Marine, durch die 25 Meter hohe Lotsenstation am Seekanal und einen Yachthafen mit Hotelkomplex. Hohe Düne kann mit einer Autofähre von Warnemünde oder von Osten über Hinrichshagen und Markgrafenheide erreicht werden.LageDer Ortsteil befindet sich im Norden des Stadtgebiets von Rostock gegenüber von Warnemünde auf der Ostseite des Neuen Stroms, der Mündung der Unterwarnow, zwischen Ostsee und Breitling. Seinen Namen erhielt der Ort von der Hohen Düne, die früher etwa einen Kilometer östlich der Warnowmündung an der Ostsee lag.GeschichteIm Mittelalter befand sich der erste Rostocker Ostseehafen auf dem Gebiet des heutigen Ortsteils. Die Warnow mündete zu dieser Zeit noch an verschiedenen Stellen aus dem Breitling in die Ostsee. Die Rostocker erhielten schon 1264 das städtische Recht über diesen Hafen.Mehrfach wurde die Mündung der Warnow verändert. Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts wurde der Neue Strom angelegt. Mit dem Bau des Überseehafens Rostock wurde Ende der 1950er Jahre der Neue Strom verbreitert und zum Seekanal.Mit einer elektrischen Strandbahn wurde 1910 ein für die damalige Zeit sehr fortschrittliches Verkehrsmittel eingesetzt. Sie verkehrte von der Fähranlegestelle bis Markgrafenheide und wurde bei Kriegsende 1945 eingestellt und durch Busse ersetzt.
