Detailed description is 6.-10.6.2018 Kaukonen - Kittilä - Lapland Hiljaisuus-festivaali järjestetään Kittilässä kesäkuun toisella viikolla, kun aurinko ei laske lainkaan ja ennen kun sääsket saapuvat. Kaukosen kylässä järjestettävä festivaali kokoaa vuosittain joukon ihmisiä monitaiteisen ohjelmiston äärelle kauniiseen kylämiljööseen. . . Hiljaisuus-festivaalin ytimessä on uusi suomalainen sävellystaide ja nykysirkus sekä Kaukosen kylän kaunis maisema tupineen ja kylänraitteineen. Kylän halki virtaava Ounasjoki luo erityistä tunnelmaa ja saa vuosittain myös roolin festivaaliohjelmistossa. . . Vuonna 2018 yhdeksättä kertaa järjestettävä festivaali syntyi sirkustaiteilija Sakari Männistön ja tuottaja Joonas Martikaisen haaveesta täyttää Kaukosen kylä korkeatasoisella taiteella. Aluksi festivaalia järjesti nykysirkusyhdistys Agit-Cirk, kunnes vuonna 2012 festivaalin taustalle perustettiin kittiläläinen Taiteilijayhdistys Hiljaisuus ry. . . Hiljaisuus-festivaalin ohjelmisto on ollut monitaiteinen perustamisestaan lähtien. Se tuo Lappiin kansainvälisestikin kiinnostavimmat esitykset ja taiteilijat. Festivaali tarjoaa alustan yllättäville kohtaamisille niin ihmisten, Lapin luonnon, kuin eri taiteenlajienkin välille. Vuonna 201 taiteellisina johtajina toimivat säveltäjä Outi Tarkiainen ja sirkustaiteilija Henna Kaikula. .
