Helen Clark School of Dancing teaches tap, jazz and ballet to children ranging in age from 3 years.
Helen Clark School of Dancing aims to give children a love for dance! We also place a strong emphasis on building self-esteem and confidence through praise and encouragement..

Our studio conducts annual concerts, examination work (in both the CSTD and Les Griffith Tap Dancing Syllabi) and participates in local eisteddfods.

What do we offer:.

For Children Aged 3 & 4 years: .
Babies Class - The babies class is a 30 minute jazz class for children aged approximately 3 to 4 years.
Set to fun music, the children develop basic dance technique while at the same time grooving to their favourite songs.
This class will also perform a routine at the end of year concert..

For Children Aged 5 & 6 years: .
Junior Class - The junior class in an introduction to tap, jazz and ballet dancing.
It consists of 1 hour and 15 minutes of jazz/ballet dancing and tap dancing.
The students also learn a performance dance that they can perform at eisteddfods and end of year concert.

For Children Aged 7 & Above - We offer 2 different kinds of classes – Technique Classes & Performance Classes:.

1. Technique Classes – We offer technique classes in jazz, tap and ballet dancing.
Each of these classes are one hour in length and follow either the CSTD or Les Griffith accredited examination syllabi.
It is not compulsory for children to participate in all three technique classes.
Rather, parents can choose which technique class or classes best suit their child.

Technique classes are designed to teach children how to correctly execute dance steps while at the same time developing strength and flexibility.
All students that participate in technique classes have the opportunity to sit an annual examination for their respective style/s of dance.

2. Performance Classes – We offer one performance class per age group.
In this class, the children amalgamate steps they have learnt from their technique classes and put them into performance routines which they perform at eisteddfods and the end of year concert.
While we offer performance routines in tap, jazz and ballet dancing, the children can only participate in the routines which correlate to their selected technique class/classes.
For example, if a child participates in the tap and jazz technique classes they can only participate in the performance routines for these 2 styles of dance (and not the ballet routines)..

What are the Performances:.

The students perform in three local eisteddfods per year – 2 in Ipswich and 1 in Gatton.
Eisteddfods give children the opportunity to “dress up” in costumes and perform their dances on stage for family and friends.

Our dance school also hold an end of year concert and performs at various local community and charity events.

Generally students really love performing.
It enhances their confidence and self-esteem and provides valuable skills in team work.
