Detailed description is A Southern Baptist Church located in Laurel, MS. . . Pastor Hiram Eaves. Harmony Baptist Church was organized in 1896 with Rev M.F.Sheppard serving as the first pastor. The first building was a frame strucure located two miles south of the present location. This original structure was used until 1928, when a brick building was built. This second building was located at the current location. Rev. B.S. Hilbun was the pastor at this time. . . In 1962, a new sanctuary was built while Rev Tommy Fant was serving as pastor. The old sanctuary was used as an educational building until it was destroyed by fire on Sunday, January 13, 1963. The present education building was completed in 1966, while Rev Leroy Craven was pastor.. . The parsonage was built in 1948 and renovated in 1975. The church parking lot was exteded and paved in 1988. The sanctuary was renovated to it's current look in 1991.
