Come by and give us a try! Hal Engelhardt is no stranger to great central Texas BBQ.
Born and raised in the Austin area, Hal is a master welder and master builder of championship pits.
His pits have won Austin BBQ cook-off twice, Houston BBQ Grand Champion Brisket twice and have dominated cook-offs throughout central Texas for 15 years.
His good friends Helen Kruppa and James Cashiola were the pitmasters collecting those trophies.
When Hal decided to start a BBQ joint he asked Helen and James for their blessing to use the tips, techniques and recipes of their competition BBQ.

Competition BBQ is truly an artisan craft.
Handpicked meats, meticulously trimmed, seasoned with balance, then watchfully smoked.
Hal’s BBQ is about bringing that artisan commitment every day to his customers.
He started by building a pit that could handle the volume of a restaurant and not have a sweet spot in it.
Sweet spots are a place on the pit just big enough for 2 or 3 briskets where the heat and smoke are just right.
Almost all pits have “sweet” spots due to the firebox being on one end, especially converted propane tanks.
Meat cooked outside the sweet spot just won’t turn out as good..
