The Focus for Habitat Systems Limited is the Animals . . Habitat Systems was born because Tom Weidner was not satisfied with any commercially available reptile enclosures. Tom has been raising reptiles for 55 years and has been breeding and selling reptiles for the last 30 years. He is friend and confidant to most of the large breeders in the United States. His current, personal collection includes over 200 animals, including over 100 Emerald Tree Boas and Green Tree Pythons. His facility, the T&L Vivarium, has been the proving ground for nearly all of the design ideas incorporated into the Habitat Systems Limited cage line.. . After decades of trial and error using any and all materials available to build his own cages, Tom finally found the hollow-core PVC that is the primary material in Habitat Systems’ cages and racks. This material is not only impervious to urates and most other chemicals, but it’s hollow-core structure performs an insulating function that allows much better temperature control with less heat loss. With this material, it is no longer necessary to keep the ambient room temperature high in order to maintain cage temperatures within the parameters ideal for the successful maintenance of captive reptiles. The unique hollow-core material allows heat tape to be inserted into the walls and/or floor of the cage or rack in such a way that it is completely protected from the animals. After Tom discovered the hollow-core PVC, it took many more years of experimentation with construction and assembly methods to develop the patented methods that are now used in Habitat Systems' enclosures. Tom is the design engineer behind all of the Habitat Systems products. His designs are focused on providing the best habitat for the animals and providing the keeper with the tools necessary to do the best possible job in the least amount of time.. .
