Güroymak, Bitlis ilinin bir ilçesidir.CoğrafyaGüroymak, Doğu Anadolu Bölgesinde Yukarı Murat havzasının doğusuyla Van Gölü’nün batısında Muş Ovası’nın doğu ucunda, Doğu-Batı istikametinde uzanan iki dağ sırasının arasında ovada bulunan bir alan içinde yer almaktadır. İlçenin doğusunda yer alan Nemrut Dağı-Krater Gölü ve etekleri özellikle batıya doğru uzanarak ilçenin kuzeyini çevirir. Güneyde Yer alan Kilhar Dağı ise Doğu Torosların uzantısı olup, ilçenin batısına doğru hafif bir eğimle ovaya uzanır.Güroymak iklim yapısı genelde Bitlis ilinin Akdeniz kara iklimi geçiş özelliğine benzemekle beraber önemli değişiklikler gösterir. Kışları ve baharları özellikle yoğun sis nedeniyle güneşli gün sayısı azdır. İlçenin doğusundaki Rahva düzlüğü doğal bir rüzgar koridoru olduğu için büyük tipi ve fırtınalara sahne olur. Kışlar soğuk ve yoğun kar yağışlı baharlar ise yağmurlu geçer. Yazlar kısa ve ılık bir özellik gösterir. İlçenin yüksek yerlerinde yetişen meşe ve kavak ağaçları tahrip edilip kesildiğinden dağlık arazisi çıplak, seyrek çalılarla kaplı otlaklıklar niteliğindedir. Ovadaki eski ormanlar tahrip olmuş yerinde sellerle kaplı bozkır mahiyetinde bir arazi yapısı ortaya çıkmıştır. İlçenin deniz seviyesinden yüksekliği 1320 metre, köyler ile birlikte yüz ölçümü 650 km² dir.Tarihçeİlçenin bulunduğu topraklar tarih boyunca Muş Ovası ile aynı siyasi kaderi paylaşmış, 4. ila 9. yüzyıllarda Mamigonyan Ermeni beyliğine, 825-967 yılları arasında Bagratuni Ermeni krallığına tabi olmuş, 967 yılında Bizans egemenliğine girdikten kısa bir süre sonra Diyarbakır merkezli Mervani emirlerine boyun eğmiştir. Türk istilalarından sonra bir müddet Ahlat'ta hüküm süren Dilmaçoğlu ve Sökmenli beyliklerinin hakimiyetine giren Norşin, daha sonra Bitlis'teki Şerefhanoğlu beylerinin egemenliği altında kalmıştır. Bu süreçte ilçe ve çevresinin Ermeni olan eski nüfusunun peyderpey Kürtleştiği anlaşılmaktadır. 20. yüzyıl başlarında Norşin ve çevre köylerinin halkı yaklaşık üçte bir oranında Ermeni ve üçte iki oranında Kürt idi.
