was established in the year of 1960 by the late Bishop Albert Green and Mother Theodesia Green The late Pastor Albert Green organized Green Chapel Overcoming Church of God in the year of 1960; he started this ministry in a little store front building at 6 South Bridge Street located in the downtown area of Poughkeepsie with the support of his wife, family, and saints who were devoted in spreading the good news of the gospel.
Pastor Green was called of God and did not hesitate to answer to establish an apostolic church, he willingly stood in the gap as a shepherd of the small flock which God had in trusted in his care.
In 1976 Bishop Albert Green, pastor of Green Chapel Overcoming Church of God, and Presiding Elder of the New York District, Overcoming Church of God of America, Inc., closed his eyes entering his eternal rest.

Thompson, Senior Bishop of the Overcoming Church of God of America, Inc.
Due to urban renewal in the downtown area of Poughkeepsie, Elder Ridgill and congregation moved to 123 Cottage Street.
Here he remodeled that structure into a serene place of worship and a fish restaurant located in the front of the building, and many souls were saved, healed and delivered..

In 1980, Elder Ridgill and congregation purchased a Jewish synagogue located at 39 South Bridge Street from Elder Taylor who served as the pastor of the Poughkeepsie Evangelistic Deliverance Church.
Through his ministry and administrative abilities, the congregation grew and the people became encouraged and inspired.
He was truly a builder of churches and father to many, commissioned by the Lord Jesus Christ, Elder G.

Ridgill along with his wife, Mother Gladys Lawrence Ridgill established the Green Chapel Overcoming Church of God in Kingston, New York.
Elder Ridgill was consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop in the Lord’s church.
Bishop Ridgill was appointed as the New York District Bishop for the Overcoming Church of God of America, Inc., having the oversight of churches located in Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Peekskill, Mt.
Vernon, Yonkers, Spring Valley and Nyack.
