The need to establish an educational institution, for the people of this historical city of Peshawar, was felt intensely since long, which led to the establishment of this college at Inter level in June 1957 and later upgraded to Degree level in 1959. Before shifting it to its present building in 1961, it had been functioning in the Provincial Assembly Building on Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam for four years.. Besides, environmental suitability for academic activities, the present building is also suitable because of tits location. The famous historic "Shahi Bagh" is expanded on a vast area with its green lawns and rose gardens to its north -west. to the south-east, there is a network of roads which connects this college to the adjacent areas.. The college building is spread over an area of 40 canals with well-ventilated classrooms, well equipped laboratories, a library with an attached reading room, a common room for students, a mosque, playgrounds and green lawns which add to the beauty and grace of the building. The presence of peaceful, pleasant and congenial academic atmosphere is felt all around. competent, experienced and dedicated teachers contribute honestly for the achievement of the aims and objectives, The foremost objectives are to exploit and refine moral, mental and intellectual capabilities of a student in order to develop a balanced personality and an ideal character.. Moreover, in line with the policy of the government, great efforts are made to introduce Islam as a momentous force in the lives of the students. In order to strealine the moral values of the students and make them exemplary Muslims and religious and moral topics, debates and discussions on social problems are held as important co-curricular activities.
