It was established in spring 2008 as one of the first of its kind in an institute devoted to international relations and development.
It reflects the wider trend in both the practice and the analysis of global health which pays increasing attention to the links between health, foreign policy, trade and development.
It builds capacity by engaging in research, knowledge translation and diffusion, as well as by executive training in global health diplomacy for and with major stakeholders, particularly those present in Geneva..

The GHC draws upon the political support of global policy leaders and reflects on the policy perspectives opened by the Oslo Declaration 2007 on Global Health and Foreign Policy and its subsequent UN Resolutions.
