Detailed description is GESI is a study abroad program that prepares passionate undergraduates to participate in community development in a global context.
GESI is a credit-bearing study abroad and experiential-learning program run by Northwestern University that prepares undergraduates to work in interdisciplinary teams at community-based nonprofits in Bolivia, Dominican Republic/Haiti, India, Nicaragua, and Uganda.
Students take courses on international development and community consulting before venturing abroad to do their team-based internships at community-based organizations working on issues of micro-finance, public health, education, women's empowerment, social enterprise development, and the environment.
Upon completion, students receive two Northwestern credits.
